Pokemon: A.H.L pt.4

Xander slowly looked through the grass. It was early in the afternoon, about 11:15. That was a good time for Xander to begin about almost anything. This time, he was using this time to depart for his Pokemon journey. The only thing he hoped didn't happen was that he ran into Armand. Him and Xander still had to battle, which Xander wanted to avoid, to the fact that he had a town to visit. This time we was searching for any Pokemon he could find. Having more Pokemon meant more of an advantage during trainer fights. And he wanted to get the loss of the battle, and the Flareon off his mind. He shook his head and went back to looking. Just then he heard a rustling in the grass and ducked down, waiting anxiously for whatever it was, but what was it? A diglett? A Ratatta looking for berries? Couldv'e been anything.

He waited for the sound to get louder and the object to move closer. When it was close enough, he sprang out and leaped at whatever it was. BANG! Down went him and...oh man, Armand. Xander felt embarassed and jumped off. "Oops, sorry Armand. I didn't know it was you." He said, nerviously. "What the hell is your problem?! Hiding the grass and waiting to attack? It aint like you." "N-no! Thats not it! I heard something coming. I thought it was a Pokemon. Honest Armand! I really did!" Armand just growled and felt like punching Xander in the face. "Y'know, sometimes I really wanna hit you. I could just do this!" He took out his pokeball and aimed it at his face, then his eyes lit up.

"Maybe it's a good thing I pulled this out....we got something to do. I know you're rested up, so why don't we battle to get this over with." "No way! I don't wanna battle at a time like this! Really man, it'd ruin my chance to find any other Pokemon I'm looking for." Armand frowned. "Looking for another Pokemon? Didn't you catch one yesterday? Ah well it don't matter. I mean, you may got two, but I have three." A big grin came across his face. "You what?! How do you have three?" Armand just grabbed the third 'Pokemon' and spun it in his hand. "Hehe....its right here...right in this Pokeball. I'm saving it for when we really do battle. a good three-on-three outa' do it, wouldn't you say?" "I guess so. I'm heading over to Ubaur town so I can have my first official gym battle." A look of emptyness crossed Armand's face.

"Really? Well, good luck, because with those two Pokemon you have, you'd never survive. Even with that strong Ledyba you control, you wouldn't win." "And just how do you know that?" "Well, because Xander, I know who the gym leader of that town is." Xander frowned. "Tell me. I wanna know-" His sentence was interupted by Armand pointing to his bag. "Is something eating at your lunch?" He smirked as Xander turned around. "Huh? ....OH NO! My food! Get away from there!" He ran over flailing his arms, only to find a small Pidove fly out with his Pokedex. "M-my Pokedex! Give it back!" But the Pidove flew away, getting away at a normal speed. Armand stood back and had a grin on his face. "Well this is you're chance...again...to catch a Pokemon. But remember, this time I'm not helping you. You're on your own." Xander just ignored him and took out his Pokeball. "Oh I'm gonna do it alright! Go Pokeball!"

He threw an empty Pokeball at the Pidove. It only manage to hit it's beak, but the Pokedex fell into a tree. The Pidove turned around and landed on the ground, snorting dirt of it's beak. Xander walked over and put his Pokeball away, then grabbed another one and aimed it at Pidove. "Your mine! Alright, let's start this battle Leafeon!" He threw that one to the ground and out came his Leafeon. "Leafeon! Razor leaf!" Leafeon jumped into the air and threw razor shapped leaves at Pidove. The pidove managed to dodge and hit Leafeon with a quick attack. "That was quick attack." Armand commented. Xander just growled and aimed at Pidove. "Ok, counter back with your OWN quick attack!" Leafeon got a glare in it's eyes and rushed at Pidove, knocking it down before it could fly away. But the small bird managed to stand, balancing on one foot.

"It then took flight again, but then rushed toward Leafeon and it's wings glew. It then shot blue energy attacks at Leafeon. It got sent flying back and was knocked into a tre. "That was Air cutter." Armand commented again. Xander just glared at him. "Would you just shut up! I know that!" Armand just chuckled, then handed a heal ball to Xander, who caught it. "Use this for catching it. After it's caught, you and I will fight, ok?" Xander just nodded and looked at Leafeon. "Can you still fight Leafeon?" Leafeon barely stood up, but it looked determined. Pidove took aim and hit Leafeon back and forth with quick attacks, then swooped down for a full forced tackle, then it flew off, looking over at Xander. "Damn it! Leafeon!" Leafeon was knocked out and couldn't fight. "Grrr...I JUST pull it out, and he can't fight. Damn it..." He returned Leafeon to it's Pokeball and took out Ledyba's.

"Alright Ledyba, your turn!" He tossed his ball into the air and out came Ledyba. It looked determined and ready to battle. "Ledyba, start you're turn off with swift!" Ledyba flew at Pidove and hit it with swift. The pidove was hit, but it still came strong and quick attacked Ledyba, sending it flying with a bang to the tree. "Hang in there Ledyba! Fly up and use sleep powder as soon as it goes toward you!" Ledyba jumped up and anticipatedly waited. Pidove dove itself into the air from high above and went in for a sneak attack from behind, but Ledyba dodged and used sleep powder. The gasious particles soon caused Pidove to be drowsy as it fell. Xander then clutched the heal ball in his hand and aimed at Pidove. "Alright, you're gonna be with us from now on, Pidove! Go Pokeball!" He leaned back and tossed it at Pidove. The ball struck Pidove, and inside it went.

It rolled around. Once, twice, three times...then the same clicking sound that was heard for Ledyba, was sounded for Pidove. Since it was caught inside the heal ball, it was healed. Xander walked over and picked up his Pokeball. He held it up in the air. "Alright! I caught myself a Pidove! Haha, and I didn't even need you're help Armand!" Armand just stifled another laugh and looked at Xander. "that really isn't going to matter." A frown came across his face. He then clutched his Pokeball. "You know what I want Xander.I want to battle. You and I have to. We were going to as soon as we recieved out first Pokemon! Don't even step down!" Xander just sweated a bit. "Armand....I just caught myself a Pidove. Can't I relax?" "NO! We battle now! If you win, I'll leet you know what the leader of Ubaur city is. Deal?" Xander thought for a moment.

"Sure. If it'll get me the info I need, I'll battle you." He smiled and walked back a bit. "So...a three on three, you say?" Armand nodded. "That's right. We each use three Pokemon for this battle. Since I know about yours, you may have a tough time." "That don't mean anything Armand! I'm sure I can beat you!" "Then bring it! Go Houndour!" His Pokeball sprung open and out came Houndour. It grunted and blew flame into the air. Xander looked at Ledyba. "Alright Ledyba. You're up. I know we just battled but I'm gonna use you, ok?" Ledyba grinned and flew foward. The battle between these two were about to begin.

Armand glared at Xander and then looked at Houndour. "Hehe, just like the battle we had in the wild....Houndour, flamethrower!" Houndour leaped at Ledyba and draw a hot breath of fire at it. "Ledyba, dodge and try to put it to sleep!" Ledyba managed to dodge the flame and used sleep powder. Houndour was slightly hit but rolled out of the way. It snorted fire again then rushed at Ledyba. "Alright, skull bash!" Armand called out. houndour waited until it was near Ledyba, then ran into it, sending it flying against a tree. Xander then growled and sweated a bit, looking nervous. "Ledyba! C'mon don't give up on me! I know you can do it!" Ledyba opened it's eyes and jumped up. "Ok, like we did in our last battle, use swift!" Ledyba flew foward and shot stars at Houndour. It connected and made Houndour bounce back a bit.

"Houndour! Use another Skull bash!" Houndour did another skull bash, knocking Ledyba down. "Now finish it off with flamethrower, go!" Houndour shot more hot fire at Ledyba. It made a direct contact, making it into a semi-faint status. "Ledyba, are you...ok?" Ledyba tried to stand up but it fell down, its eyes closed. "Oh no...he can't battle anymore. Maybe that Pidove wore it out." "You're damn strait it was worn out, Xander. It might be tought but it can't last forever!" Xander just smirked and returned Ledyba to its Pokeball. "Speaking of Pidove...I'm going to use him now! Go Pidove!" He threw his Pokeball and out came Pidove. It looked as ready as it did when fighting against Xander. "Pidove, air cutter!" Pidove flew toward Houndour and its wings grew blue as it shot out, attacking Houndour head on.

"Houndour, don't let it get to ya! Use Iron tail!" Houndour grunted, and jumped up, using Iron tail which smacked Pidove head on. Pidove backed off but still stayed afloat. "Thats good Pidove! Now try Whirlwind!" Pidove blew big gusts of air toward Houndour, which sent it flying, BANG! Into a tree it went. "Okay, Wind attack lets go!" Pidove flew right by Houndour went to go throw two big wing attacks at Houndour. Houndour had no time to move, as it was struck, right through the tree. Armand just smiled, then returned Houndour. "It seems to me that Houndour isnt strong enough...I mean hes got strong attack, but I'm gonna call this an K.O for now." Xander looked confused but stayed calm. "Alright, for my next act, I'll call upon...Abra!" He clicked his Pokeball and out came Abra, sitting down, relaxing, almost as if it did nothing but wait.

"Abra, Hypnosis attack!" Abra's eyes glew blue as it tried to use sonic waves to put Pidove to sleep. "Pidove, Whirlwind it away!" Pidove blew all the gusts of wind it could to try to keep the waves away, but they soon got to Pidove and struck it, putting it to sleep. "No! Pidove!" "Alright, dream eater now!" Abra then ghostified itself as it ate the sleeping Pidove's dream. The Pidove fell, unable to battle. "Oh damn it! Not Pidove!" Xander grabbed his Pokeball and returned Pidove. He then reached for the last one and sighed. "You're all I got left old buddy....C'MON, LEAFEON! LETS GO!" Out came Leafeon, ready to battle. Armand smiled and just stood there. "Just knock him out....do it or I'll return Abra. One or the other." Xander again look confused. "What do you mean?" "Heh...I'm just waiting....I want to fight your Leafeon with something of my own. Something that will stand a chance against it."

Xander just stood still but signaled Leafeon to attack. "Hit it with Razor leaf and Vine whip, now!" Leafeon hit it back and forth with leaf attacks. About a minute lasted until Abra gave in. Armand chuckled and returned   Abra. "Ok...finally...thanks! Now I get to unleash my Pokemon on you!" He returned Abra, then held up his final one. "Lets get ready to do this-" He tossed out his Pokeball and out came a blue-ish shape. "-Vaporeon!" Xander gasped as he saw the Vaporeon. He didn't know what to say, as looking at this, he had the advantage. "I don't get it....your Vaporeon's gonna lose. I got the Type advantage!" "Haha, really? I don't honestly care! I'll take Leafeon down if I have to! BY FORCE! LETS GO VAPOREON!" Vaporeon then launched itself at Leafeon. "Hit it with quick attack!" Xander didn't hesitate. He did it as well. "Alright, counter with your own quick attack as well!" Both Vaporeon and Leafeon hit each other dead on with one after another quick attacks, both wearing each other down.

"Don't give up! It might have the advantage but you still got poweful moves! Use Double kick!" Vaporeon jumped toward Leafeon and double kicked it. Leafeon crunched down to avoid both attacks and then countered with its own Double kick. Vaporeon was sent flying, but it landed on all fours. Armand grinned and thre his hand in the air. "Alright, jump up and hit with a stomp attack!" Vaporeon gracefully jumped up and dived down, hitting Leafeon with a big stomp. Leafeon grunted as it was struck. "Leafeon! Strike back and bite it." Leafeon bit down on Vaporeon's neck. "Now flip it over and hit it with Vine whip!" The impact made Vaporeon shreak in pain. Armand grunted. "Like I said, I'm not losing! I will not lose! Vaporeon, use Ice beam and end this!" Xander looked shocked? "Wait what?!" Armand laughed as ice began to form inside Vaporeon's mouth. "You didn't know? My Vaporeon can learn both ice AND water type moves! Too bad for you!" "L-leafeon! Get away from there!" But Vaporeon had a good grip on Leafeon, as it managed to turn the tables and get on Leafeon, then jumped back right before striking it with an Ice beam, sending it flying into a brick wall.

"No! Leafeon!" Xander ran over to check on Leafeon. It just laid there, a bit cold and chilled. Xander pet it and held its head. "You did a very good job Leafeon. You take a good rest..." He returned Leafeon and then got up. Armand pet his Vaporeon and returned. "Excellent job, partner. You had a splendid battle." Xander walked over. He was a bit silent before speaking. "Thats the second battle I've lost. How will I ever become better if I don't win?" Armand sighed. "Y'know, getting better isn't always about winning. Just believe in yourself and your Pokemon, and you'll do fine. Honestly Xander, you did great. I think you're going to become a very good trainer. Today's battle was probably just a warm-up for you. I aint the best out there. Anyways, you'll have to find out the leader's type for yourself. Since you didn't win, I aint telling you." Xander was frustrated. "WHAAAT?!" "Hey, you agreed. If you won, which you didn't, I wouldv'e told you. And since you lost...."

Xander felt dissapointed, but remained calm. "Well, Xander. I guess this is where we depart. Ubaur town is up ahead. Go luck to you, don't sweat it." Xander looked up. "You don't want to take the Pokemon League challenge?" Armand put a hand on Xander's shoulder. "Xander...I don't have time to take gym challenges and earn badges. Sure its a good way to strenghen my partners, but I've got a load of stuff to do. I'll catch you around, ok?" "Alright...good luck to you too, Armand." Armand walked off, but stopped. "May we meet up again sometime..." He gave Xander a peace sign and walked off. Xander turned around and walked toward the big city. The town of Ubaur was just up ahead. Upon examining the big city, he noticed a small creature was there. In the distance he saw a Spinda. It was walking around dizzily, like most Spinda's do. He was confused, but smiled. "Well, maybe this is my chance to have my FOURTH Pokemon, and I haven't even reached Ubaur town yet!" He went to go throw his Pokeball when someone grabbed his hand. "What do you think you're doing?!" Xander turned around to notice a girl grabbed ahold of his hand.

He blushed a bit. "Uh...I was going to catch that Spinda." "Don't you mean MY Spinda?" She had an upset expression on her face. She wore a green shirt, a short red skirt, pink leggings, and had beautiful long brown hair. "She stood there, angry. "If you even think of it, I'll steal all your Pokemon and run away!" "Calm down miss! I didn't even know you owned this Spinda. I'm sorry....maybe I should be off now. I got to get to Ubaur town." Her eyes lit up. "Ubaur town? Thats where I was gonna be headed back to!" Xander then stopped and turned around. "Really?" "Yeah. Spinda, return." She put Spinda back inside its Pokeball and walked up to him. "Sorry for thinking you were some theif, I thought you were someone from team Astro, maybe I'm wrong." Xander was puzzled. "Team Astro? They just invaded Professer Green's lab and ran off with the last eevee!" She giggled a bit. "So you're from Greenville town? I shouldv'e known. Most cute people who come from there wear what you got." Xander blushed again. "H-hey...I don't mind asking, but...would you be willing to show me around Ubaur town? I might need some help." She smiled. "Sure. My name's Felona." "I'm Xander, Xander Gaston." They both shook hands and slowly walked off toward Ubaur town.
